K-Tron Expands Pharmaceutical Feeder Line to Include Loss-in-Weight and Volumetric Models, Single and Twin-screw

PITMAN, NJ (February 26, 2004) -- The The K-Tron Feeder Group has expanded its line of sanitary feeders designed specifically for use in the pharmaceutical industry. 

The stainless steel Pharma feeder is now available in volumetric and gravimetric, single and twin-screw models. The twin-screw volumetric version of the feeder was first introduced in Europe several years ago and in North America last year.   It has received wide acceptance, with over 150 units sold.

All models offer clear separation between the production area and the drive. It is designed according to GMP guidelines, easy to clean and can be disassembled without tools.  The feeder offers the option of a stainless steel cover for the motor and gear box and can be integrated into a wall to offer further sanitary control.  It can also outfitted for Clean in Place (CIP).

Both volumetric and loss-in-weight T20, T35and S20 versions are now available, expanding the range of materials and feedrates that can be accommodated.  Common applications for this feeder include feeding into a jet mill for micronization plus feeding in extrusion and tablet press operations.
